Agrobiodiversity Conservation

Preserving indigenous seeds and farming systems for food security and ecosystem health.

Agrobiodiversity is the foundation of food security, rural livelihoods, and ecosystem resilience. BERC Nigeria conducts applied research to document, conserve, and promote the sustainable use of indigenous crops, seeds, and farming systems that are increasingly threatened by climate change, land degradation, and the erosion of traditional knowledge.

Research Focus Areas

Our Approach

Our research combines field surveys, participatory rural appraisal, and community seed mapping. We work closely with smallholder farmers, extension agents, and local institutions to ensure that conservation strategies are locally owned and sustainable.

Why It Matters
